Monthly Favourites | May 2013

Seaweed Toner / Aloe Serum / MUA Lipstick (review) / Powder Brush /
Micellar Water (review) / Erase Paste (undereye concealer review)
It's that time of the month again and I've got a bunch of products to discuss with you! These are a few things I've been loving/discovered throughout the month of May!
I made a Body Shop order at the beginning of the month as they had a 40% off code and free delivery. I picked up a few skincare items including this Seweed Clarifying Toner and Aloe Protective Serum. Using these products in conjunction with eachother has made such a difference to my skin. My skin feels healthy and supple from using these in the morning and the serum makes applying foundations a dream. The toner is so inexpensive and although the serum is a little more it's worth it - so if you're looking for some new skincare I definitely recommend the body shop! Next in my favourites is this gorgeous red lipstick from MUA. As it was my birthday and my friends birthday in May I've been using this for nights out and it lasts such a long time. I've got a full review on this little number so just click on the link above if you're interested. Now I'm sure you've all heard of Real Techniques by now and I'm a huge fan of theirs. I asked for the Real Techniques Powder Brush for my birthday and my parents kindly bought it for me. I've used it everyday since and that's why it's in my favourites. This brush has encouraged me to start using mineral powder again as it creates such a flawless finish - once again their brushes never fail to let me down. The Loreal Micellar Water is something I'm sure you've heard of as well by now. I've linked my full review if you haven't but basically this has made removing make-up so easy and will continue to be a repurchase. Finally I've been loving this little glass jar of goodness this month. Benefit's Erase Paste has helped me conceal those dark eye bags caused by exam stress or just being hungover. I've featured it in a blog post which I will again link above. So there are all my favourites for the month of May - please let me know your opinions on any of these products and leave links if you've done a May favourites post too. Thanks for reading!

Review | The Body Shop Tea Tree Exfoliating Wash

I got this face wash a week or so ago and I don't look back. After seeing all of it's 5 star ratings online I decided I would give it a try. My skin is all over the place and I really need to find something that will calm it down. I've got dry patches and oily patches so it really is combination. I use this mask once of twice a week and I can feel it works wonders. The little beads are a good size and the tea tree works really well on my skin. I can feel the dirt being removed and when I was it off my skin feels nourished and supple. I've really been enjoying this product and have really seen a difference in my skin! It was £6.50 I believe and you get a lot of product in it so it is great value too! Have you given this a go? What masks/washes do you use when your skin is feeling down? Thanks for reading!

Review | MUA Lipstick (13)

A short but sweet post today but this beautiful, beautiful lipstick needs to be blogged about - it's just so beautiful. I've been lusting over MAC Russian Red for quite a few months now but as I'm saving for holidays and uni I can't justify paying that much for it. At the weekend I went out for my friends 18th and knew I wanted to wear a red lip. I have various red lipsticks but none that really stand out or last a long time either. So I went into Superdrug and decided to check out the MUA lipsticks. This my friends is when I fell in love. The shade of this lipstick is your classic red - not too dark, not too orange and not too blue. For £1, yes £1 I thought I'd give it a try. I wore this lipstick and I touched it up once or twice but this managed to stay in place the majority of the evening. It's such a lovely texture too as it feels nourishing and not drying at all. Needless to say I will be checking out MUA lipsticks more often as I'm so so impressed. This is the shade 13 if you're wondering - so if you're after a decent red lip then I recommend checking out this little baby! Have you tried MUA lipsticks and are you a fan? Thanks for reading!

All About | Under Eye Concealing

I am the worlds worst person for always feeling tired, I'm a top napper and even when I get an early night I still have huge under eye bags the next morning. As it's currently exam season and I'm sitting my A Levels, I'm revising to silly o clock and need something that will keep the bags at bay. This post will involve me discussing what concealers/eye creams that I have in my collection and how I rate each of them individually  They are all pretty much high street too so there's some great bargains!

Firstly I have the MUA Cover & Conceal concealer (conceal concealer?!) this product only cost me £1 so really doesn't break the bank. My thoughts are that it is a very good standard concealer that can be used for both under the eyes and on blemishes. The coverage is mediocre and for a pound you really can't complain. Rating: 5/10.
Next I have the Garnier Roll-on which I absolutely adore. This product is so lovely to use and is cooling and really brightens the eye area. As far as concealing goes it's alright, it's fairly light coverage but does a wonderful job in making you feel alert in the early hours so therefore it's a winner for me. Rating: 7/10
The Boots Gently Eye Cream is another good one for brightening up the eyes. It's a fairly thick consistency and blends beautifully. It won't work at covering many blemishes or fully hiding eye bags but I feel it's a lovely eye cream to have if you need something that will make you feel more radiant. Rating: 7/10.
Next up is the trusty Collection Ever Lasting Perfection concealer. Tried and tested I am one who hypes this product up a lot and it really does the job. This concealer is excellent for getting rid of under eye bags and is great on blemishes too. If you haven't tried it yet then you're missing out and I highly recommend. Rating 9/10.
Another product I own from the same brand is the Collection Illuminating Touch. This product is not so much a concealer but again helps to brighten the eye area and make you look a lot less tired. This is really inexpensive and works really well. Rating 7/10
Finally is my newest addition but one I fell in love with instantly. Benefit's Erase Paste is absolutely gorgeous forgetting rid of under eye circles. It really gets rid of any dark patches or severe bags and blends like a dream. Although it doesn't look like much a little goes along way with this product and I have a feeling it's going to last me a while. Rating 9/10.

So there is my collection of concealers/eye brightening creams - I'm yet to try the Bobbi Brown creamy concealer/corrector but one day it will be mine! Honoury mention goes to the Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer as that's one of my favourites I'm just using up the ones I have first before I repurchase. Please leave me any recommendations as I'm a bit of a concealer junkie. Thanks for reading!

Review | L'Oreal Make-Up Remover & Micellar Solution

L'Oreal Absolute Make-Up Remover / L'Oreal Micellar Water

There has been much speculation over the L'Oreal Micellar water recently. It's one of the few high street options for a Micellar water at a very affordable price and the quality of this product I can see why it is loved. The product itself is pretty amazing, I usually take a big oval sized cotton pad and use it for my face make up. It seems to really do the job and doesn't feel harsh on the skin at all. I've used a fair bit of this now and have already repurchased. As much as I want to try Bioderma I feel this will do for now as it is excellent.

The product I use before the Micellar water is something I haven't heard much on but is just as good. The Absolute Make-Up Remover for eyes and lips makes removing waterproof mascara easy and fuss free. A few drops of this on a cotton pad held on the eye for a few seconds and then wiped away, the majority of eye makeup has gone. Again it's great for sensitive eyes and leaves them feeling refreshed afterwards. These have been on offer at the moment in Superdrug and will probably continue to be for a while so I recommend giving them a try! I've been seriously impressed with these products and I'm tempted to look at more from the range as they had toners, cleansers etc. Let me know your thoughts on either of these or what you use to remove make-up that is difficult to budge. Thanks for reading!

Review | Benefit They're Real Mascara

So I'm a little bit late jumping on this bandwagon, nevertheless I couldn't not post about my views on this mascara. You've probably all heard of/seen/used the Benefit They're Real mascara by now as it's the most sold mascara in the UK. I'm going to be doing a quick little post on my thoughts towards it and if I feel it's worth the hype.

Firstly I think the price of this product is the biggest reason people are cautious of buying it. At £19.50 for a mascara the price tag is fairly hefty. I purchased the full sized mascara about a month or so ago with my Boots points. I was sad to part with my points as it had taken me a while to build them up but I was there hoping I had put them to good use. Did I put them to good use I hear you ask? Yes, yes I did. For what it's worth I think this mascara is incredible. I've got really short, small lashes and usually go for winged eyeliner to deter from my almost invisible lashes. This has changed how I wear my eye make up now as my lashes are provided with a curl, volume and length. The plastic wand doesn't put me off and the formula is a really good consistency - not too wet or too drying. The only glitch I have with this product is it can be a pain to remove, however I use Nivea Eye Makeup remover followed by the new Loreal Micellar Water which work well in conjunction with one another to make it easier to remove. Overall I really do rate this mascara now and feel I will definitely repurchase after I've used these ones up.

On a side note the little sample size in the photo I got with Elle magazine as they're giving these samples out with their June magazine so get one quick as the magazine is £4.00 and the sample size in Boots is £9.50. So an absolute bargain. Please let me know your thoughts on this mascara - do you love it or hate it? Thanks for reading!

Monthly Favourites | April 2013

I'm glad April is over as May is the best month! My 18th birthday is on the 5th of May and two of my best friends also have their 18th birthdays in May! It's going to be an expensive month but it will be worth it. Here is the products I was loving throughout April and that I gravitated towards on numerous occasions.

I finally got around to repurchasing Benefit's Porefessional Primer and I'm so glad to have this back in my life. Although it is a little bit on the pricey side it really does work. It evens out my skin and makes applying foundation a dream with a flawless finish. It's always going to be repurchased and I could not recommend it enough! As it's been getting a (little) bit warmer recently I've tended to go for a tinted moisturiser for my base. I'm a big fan of this Nivea Daily Essential one and I think it's only about £4. I sometimes find it a little too dark but I blend it with a lighter foundation and it has a really nice dewy finish. The fragrance I used throughout the whole of April is 'Paradise' from Next. This is such a beautiful fragrance and the 30ml bottle and 9ml rollerball are sold together for around £8 - which is such a bargain. The scent is light and floral and perfect for spring time. Next do such good perfumes for such a good price so I recommend checking them out. Next up is the famous 'Lychee' by Barry M. I jumped on the band wagon and I'm not looking back. This nail polish is the perfect nude and the formula is beautiful. For the price it's an absolute steal. Finally with the weather warming and the sun making an appearance I've been reaching for my favourite pair of sunglasses. These babies were about £12 from ASOS last year but I think they look more expensive. I love the size, shape and I'm a huge fan of the tortoise shell edges. Definitely look at ASOS if you're after a good quality pair of glasses as these are still going strong!

So here is my April favourites - is there anything here that you're a fan of? Have you done an Aprils post yet? Thanks for reading!

18th Birthday Wishlist #1

So my 18th birthday is SO soon - Sunday the 5th of May! I'm so excited for turning 18 and I'm spending the day with my lovely family and seeing my wonderful friends in the evening! I've been lusting over loads of items/products recently but these are a few I would love to receive as gifts or will hopefully buy with any birthday money I receive.

I've been after a red MAC lipstick for ages - I think Russian Red is the one I will opt for as you cannot go wrong with a classic matte red lip! MAC lipsticks are such beautiful quality and most of my current red lipsticks have seen better days. (Is Russian Red a good choice? Or is Ruby Woo/Lady Bug a better option?)
This beautiful shirt is from Monki. I've not got a Monki near where I live but I always hear great things about them and their garments seem such good value. I adore the baby blue colour and think it would look gorgeous in the spring time. Now NARS Laguna has been on my wishlist for a long long time too. It's most peoples perfect bronzer. I've got really pale skin and really want to try it out! Next is this cute little pastel yellow purse from Monki. It looks the perfect size and I love the colour. It's great for spring/summer and looks hard wearing. I love polka dots, I love monochrome and I love frills so this bikini is made for me. I really love the effortless pattern and I'm going to Greece in the summer so need to stock up on bikinis! Finally I've been eyeing up the Enrapture Totem styler for a while too - another raved about product. This has been talked about all over the shop and my hair is so limp at the moment this would really help in adding volume and a bit of interest to the hair.

So here is a few things that are on my birthday wishlist. I really hoped you enjoyed this little post and let me know if you have or want any of the products mentions. I wish you all a happy bank holiday weekend and thanks for reading!
