All About | Highstreet Foundations

I've tried many 'high street' foundations over the years, spending endless amounts of money on the latest Rimmel, Revlon and Maybelline launches. I've tried some alright ones and some not so alright ones but these are the three that are my top favourites and I would repurchase again and again.

The Revlon Nearly Naked foundation (£8.99) caused much controversy with bloggers when it was first released earlier on in 2013. At first I just did not understand the hype and found it to be too 'cakey' and slightly too dark for me. However since using it in the summer months with a bit of a tan I found this was fine for my skin and gave just the right amount of coverage without feeling too heavy on the warmer days. The only drawback I think that stands out with this foundation is that it does not have a pump so a lot of the product does end up being wasted.

Next up is the L'Oreal True Match foundation (£9.99) which I adore with all my heart. Being a fair skinned gal it's incrediably difficult to find a precise colour match without making me look too dark or orange. This foundation has such a wide colour range and has some really light shades too. The consistency of this foundation is as if it's been created by the gods and I'm so surprised it is not talked about more on blogs and youtube! It is so blendable and the coverage is really buildable, creating such a flawless finish. I will definitely be buying another one of these when this one runs out.

Finally is one that is also popular with bloggers! The Bourjois Healthy Mix serum (£9.99) is one of my all time favourites. I almost shed a tear when I used up the last few pumps as there was not a back up stashed away in my collection. This foundation is gorgeous for all year round as it can be sheer or built to create a higher coverage. It is a gel foundation making it a dream to blend and lasts a long long time. I will definitely be picking another one of these up next time I'm out and about!

So there are my top three highstreet foundations - please let me know your favourites as I'm always on the hunt to try something new! Thanks for reading!

The Repurchase #1 | LUSH Eau Roma Water

This post is going to be a quick review of the Eau Roma Water from LUSH. This is about the third or fourth time I've bought this so thought it deserved a mention. The Eau Roma Water works as a really lovely refreshing toner. I use this every morning and evening after I cleanse and it really helps to clean my skin and remove all of the excess dirt. I love the scent of this product too - it's not too strong and is very fresh with a hint of Lavender. This is one of the best toners I've ever used and I'm definitely going to branch out to more LUSH products. This bottle lasts a really long time as you need about two/three sprays on a cotton pad per use! I cannot recommend it enough and they do a range of other scents too.

Have you ever tried this product or any other toners from LUSH? Thanks for reading!

Autumn Wishlist #2

So here is week two for my Autumn wishlist posts throughout August! Hope you enjoy and comment letting me know if you like the pieces I've chosen.

First up is this gorgeous little black dress from Topshop, I love this dress as it is plain/simple but still oozes elegance and sophistication. I'm fairly tall and find it falls in all the right places, hiding all my lumps and love handles! This dress would look gorgeous with some black wedges or some nude heels. The picture isn't very clear but the top half is embroided with tiny cut out flowers adding texture and exquisite detailing.
This may be a very Zara heavy wishlist but there new season clothes are so gorgeous. I'm in love with this silk striped shirt and feel it can be dressed up with a tube skirt or dressed a bit more casual with black skinny jeans and flats. Either way I think it's a staple shirt which looks like more effort has been made than what actually has. I'm sure the quality is divine and I just love the chic vibe it gives out. Now I need a new winter coat (this may just be my justification) but no - my last winter coat is about 4 years old and has definitely seen better days. As pale/pastel pinks are coming on trend this Autumn I thought no better way then to purchase this cheeky number. I'm not really one for colour but this subtle pink hue shade is not too 'in your face' and is therefore right up my street. I fall even more in love with it each time I see it and I hope one day it will be mine! Vans are something I've wanted for a long time, I love how they can be so practical yet can be paired with cute socks, tights or bare legs and still create a grungey look. I think I would opt for black ones as they would go with most clothes I own and I really think they'd be ideal for uni and walking around a lot. Finally is quite possible my most wanted item on the list. The Zara Office City Bag has been raved about pretty much for the whole of 2013 and I haven't really been too fussed about getting one. However I am hopefully starting uni in September and feel this would be the most perfect and practical bag for me. It has lots of compartments and fits lots in - it's definitely at the top of my wishlist!

So there's my second Autumn wishlist: please comment on any of the pieces you have/like and thankyou for reading!

Empty Products #1

So here is my very first empties post: I will be discussing products I've used up and whether or not I enjoyed using them and if I will repurchase them soon or again in the future!

First up is the new highstreet version of Bioderma, this L'Oreal Micellar Water was hugely popular when it first launched a couple of months ago and I can see why. This is my second bottle of the stuff and I honestly cannot fault it. I've said goodbye to face wipes for good and this makes removing makeup so much easier and gets rid of the majority of dirt and grime. After using cotton pads to remove the bulk of my makeup I just follow with a cleanser and toner but this is definitely a staple in my morning and evening skincare routine and the best thing is that it's so easy to access. I have and will repurchase this product in the future!

The next product is again my second time I've owned this product. The Vo5 Dry Texturising Spray is brilliant for those days when your locks need a bit of oomph. It adds just the right amount of texture and volume and isn't heavily scented either. This product is again inexpensive and I will probably end up repurchasing again at some point in the future.

The La Roche Pose Effaclar Duo is something that has caused much controversy amongst beauty bloggers a few months ago. Some said it was a miracle worker whilst others struggled to see changes. I was a bit of both; some times I would use this and really feel/see a difference with my skin and then other times I wouldn't notice any differences at all. I think for the price of this product I won't be repurchasing it again anytime soon unless my skin does seem very problematic.

Another product I struggled to love was the Garnier Moisture Match Moisturiser for oily skin. My skin isn't particularly oily but I do sometimes get an oily T zone area so thought this may be good to help reduce shine. However I didn't notice many differences and felt the moisturiser itself was too thick and heavy to be a daytime moisturiser. I did use a sample of the one for dull skin and it seemed to agree with my skin much more therefore if it was ever on offer and I fancied giving it another go I'd probably go for the one targeting dull skin.

Finally is something I will definitely repurchase again, the Collection Cream Puff in Fairy Cake. For under a £5 these feel absolutely gorgeous on the lips and are very long lasting. The downside is that they only have about for colours in the range but a couple of them are really beautiful. I was sad when this one ran out as I wear it a lot and will definitely pick up another when I'm next in Boots/Superdrug!

So there's my first Empties post - I hope you enjoyed it and let me know your opinions on any of the products that I've mentioned above! Thanks for reading!

Monthly Favourites | July 2013

A little bit late on the favourites this most but better late than never! July was a pretty hectic month for me aw I was away in China for ten days. I had an amazing time and it was such an experience to see such a difference in culture. I ate lots of proper Chinese food (which tasted way better than the UK Chinese). Now I'm back a monthly favourites post was due to let you know what I've been loving through July.

The first product is this Sweet Lemon Hand Cleanse Gel from The Body Shop. I needed a decent, nice fragrant hand sanitiser for the plane journey and to throw in my rucksack whilst I was in China and this one did the job perfectly. The scent is full of citrus and really feels like your hands are getting a deep clean. I picked this up in the sale for about £2 so it was inexpensive and worked really well. I will definitely be checking out more hand sanitisers from The Body Shop.

Next is a product I picked up in Duty Free whilst waiting for the flight out. I've been eyeing it up for a long time and since I had spending money to spare I picked it up. I've been using the Lumi Magique Base Primer by L'Oreal as a primer mixed in with my foundation to create the ultimate dewy glow finish or just blended it on top of my foundation on the top of my cheek bones as a liquid highlight. Either way I feel this is a gorgeous mulituse product which is perfect for the summertime.

Before the plane I obviously bought a stack of magazines for the ten hour flight (!) to Shanghai. In one of them (I'm really sorry I can't remember which) there was this Nip + Fab freebie. I thought on my travels I would give the Dry Leg Fix a go and I was delighted with the product. Although I'm really not a fan of the scent (which smells a little bit like coco cola penny sweets) I put up with it for the sheer gorgeousness of this leg moisturiser. The product sinks in leaving your legs feeling smooth and supple. I will definitely be trying more products by Nip + Fab and maybe finding a more unscented body moisturiser.

The Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder by Bourjois is something that has been in my collection for ages but I found myself wearing a lot on holiday in China. I think it's a lovely slightly shimmery bronzer which compliments my slightly fair skin - although I have a bit of a tan at the moment it still works for me. I know a lot of people love this and others aren't so keen but for me it works a treat. I am lusting over their relatively new Bronzing Primer though which is quite high up on my beauty wishlist. Finally in my July favourites is a Topshop product which I've barely put down this month.

As it was SO hot in China and for a bit in the UK when I returned home I decided to say a brief goodbye to my usual everyday liquid eyeliner cat flicks and substituted them for a bit of undereye/waterline kohl instead. This Topshop Kohl in Sable is a gorgeous brown eyeliner which glides onto the waterline and just underneath the eye like a dream. It adds such a grungy look and is so quick and easy to apply - if you want minimal effort for those hot summer days then this is worth a try!

So there are my favourites for the month of July - let me know if you've tried any of these products and your thoughts on them! Thanks for reading!

Autumn Wishlist #1

Now I know August has just begun and I'm not wishing the summer at all in any way, I just really miss Autumn and Winter. My favourite season is Autumn as I prefer darker colours and layering up. We've been having strange weather over in England - a couple of weeks ago we had a scorching heatwave and now we're back again to dreary grey rain and big heavy thunderstorms. Anyway, I've decided each week throughout August I'm going to post an autumn/winter wishlist of new on trend items I hope to collect and be part of my wardrobe!

Firstly I've had my eye on this gorgeous statement jumpsuit from Topshop for a while now. At £45 I think it's very reasonably priced and Topshop quality has never yet let me down. I think it's a classic piece which can be worn during the daytime or dressed up for a more sophisticated evening look and I think it's perfect for the Summer/Autumn transition too. Next is probably my favourite out of the lot and the one I will be lusting over the most. This stunning wool coat is from Zara, I love the check/tartan trend and I'm so happy it's coming back for A/W13! At £90 I feel it is a little on the steep side as it's not 100% wool however I am persuading my parents to go halves on this little baby and my mum did describe it as 'a very nice coat' so I think I'm onto a winner. Again Zara quality is faultless so I'm sure this will last me many many winters. A basic tube midi skirt is something I feel I will get a lot of wear out of this Autumn. As I'm quite tall I'm hoping the 'midi' length will suit my body type and teamed with a cropped jumper or t shirt I will try and make it work. This one I've found is from Topshop and has many great reviews so I will probably end up popping it into my basket sometime soon. The next shirt is from good old New Look: at £12.99 I think this is an absolute steal as I personally feel it looks a lot more expensive and could pass of as H&M/Zara/Topshop! I've seen it in store and it's made from a beautiful chiffon material making it light and airy. Again this piece can be dressed up or down making it versatile in the wardrobe. Finally are the most gorgeous wedges ever - these suede beauties are from Topshop and look so comfortable. I'm hoping to start university in September and I feel a pair of decent comfy shoes will keep my pins and feet happy during Freshers week!
So there are my first wishlist items for Autumn, I hope you like them as much as I do and please tell me what you're going to be after this season! Thanks for reading!
